I offer a caring, supportive and non-judgmental environment to help you find a way through any difficulties you may be facing in your relationship, either as a couple or individually.
Together we will first help you to identify the issues or problems you are facing in your relationship. Sometimes problems in relationships are loud and clear; the discovery of an affair, the impact of a job loss, when there are money issues, a bereavement of someone close or issues arising over your children. Less obvious problems might be when there is a sense of leading two separate lives, or feeling bored or wildly irritated, or it might be the constant bickering over the tiny details of life, or more evidently, when arguments escalate into something more dangerous.
If you decide couple therapy is the way forward for both of you, you will embark on a series of short-term counselling sessions - anything between six and twelve sessions is normal, but it will depend on the issues you are experiencing.
For some couples, counselling is the start of a longer process of discovery while for others, a few sessions of counselling may be all they need to move through a rough patch.
Couple therapy provides a different kind of thinking space, one that attends to damaged communication, and works to bring about the relief of being heard. To help create better understanding of yourself and each other. Therapy gives room for discovering what might be going on beneath your present relationship difficulties and what might be adding fuel, unconsciously, to present difficulties.
With a clearer sense of oneself and of your partner, problems can be met and thought about, and there is the possibility for real change.
